ABOUT
We came together under a strange set of circumstance called America's Got Talent, where we covered Klaus Nomi's "Total Eclipse" with the legendary songwriter Kristian Hoffman. The appearance on reality TV was very brief, but Timur and the Dime Museum was born to fuse sounds with fierceness and theatricality. Originally an acoustic outfit with clarinet, viola, cello, guitar, accordion and banjo, we morphed into electric bass, electric guitar, keys and drums.
Following our official debut on ALOUD series in LA, we toured around the U.S. and opened for Tiger Lillies, Mucca Pazza, The Red Paintings and DeVotchKa. Discovered by Beth Morrison Projects during Crescent City, the first project of the Industry LA , we went on to perform Artaud in the Black Lodge by David T. Little as part of LA Philharmonic's Liederabend 21c, op. LA at Walt Disney Concert Hall; Redcat Theater Gala with Jack Black; NYC’s Joe’s Pub; Operadagen Rotterdam, and the Krampus LA Festival’s Ball.
Originally, we focused on performing songs and operas by our member Daniel Corral, including "Zoophilic Follies" at NOW Festival at Redcat Theater; and COLLAPSE, an environmental Requiem, produced by BMP in collaboration with Victor Wilde of the Bohemian Society and video artist Jesse Gilbert. Commissioned by REDCAT Theater, COLLAPSE has been performed at Miami Light Project, Operadagen Rotterdam Festival, Showcase@CSUSB and the renowned BAM 2015 Next Wave Festival.
At this point, every member of the band is actively pursuing a busy career, which makes it extremely hard to hold hands and sing our little hearts out. While we are very active, our focus has shifted into specific theatrical projects. Does it makes us a band?... F*** yeah, and now, we are performing David T. Little and Anne Waldman's grand opus - an ode to the art and darkness - a GRAMMY-nominated opera Black Lodge, directed as a film by Michael McQuilken, and produced by our love bug Beth Morrison.
